It’s finally here. Even amidst a pandemic-shortened, virus-altered season, we’ve reached the culmination of weeks/months/years of hard work for some of the, well, hardest-working athletes in Colorado. It’s the state wrestling tournament — 2021 edition, this year held in Pueblo at the Southwest Motors Event Center.
The action kicks off Thursday at 2 p.m. with the inaugural girls wrestling championships. Despite being the first year as a sanctioned sport, each bracket is filled with quality competitors, including the likes of Alamosa’s Sarah DeLaCerda (should be a familiar name to Mean Moose fans) at 105, Nicole Koch (Olathe) at 118, Savannah Cosme (Chatfield) at 127, Alina Antillon (Mullen) at 136, and more.
